AS 5218:2018 pdf free.Acoustic performance of windows and doors – Methods of test
The test wall preparation shall be as follows:
(a) The wall shall be prepared with an opening suitable to fit the test sample in accordance with Figure 1 for acoustics testing as either:
(i)Type 1 – e.g.Window.
(ii) Type 2- e.g. Sliding Door.
(iii) Type 3- e.g. Hinged Door.
(b) The window shall be fitted into the wall utilizing standard fixing instructions as shown in the supplied drawings.
(c) The test specimen shall also meet the fixing requirements specified in AS 1191.
NOTE: The standard sized openings in Figure 1 are intended to allow for direct comparison between specimens and reduce the cost of testing for industry by limiting the number of variations in sizes available. There are no limitations placed on the configurations, or types of products which may be tested in each opening, however, further guidance is provided in Appendix A.
The test specimen, with components, shall be constructed of a size and configuration to suit the filler wall aperture with a nominal 5 mm clearance allowed in height and width. The materials and components of the test specimen shall be of the same type and size, and shall have equivalent details, methods of construction and surface finishes as those to be used in production.
The pre-testing procedure shall be as follows:
(a) Before accepting the sample for acoustic testing, the sample shall be checked in accordance with the drawings to ensure the specimen supplied is the same as that depicted in the detailed drawings and is consistent with the product depicted in the AS 2047 test report, including the presence, size and location of drain holes.
(b) The test specimen shall be installed into the filler wall and supported around the outside perimeter in a manner simulating the typical mounting in the building.
(c) The test specimen shall be checked to be operative, i.e. 5 cycles of opening, closing, and locking prior to the testing.
(d) The perimeter of the test sample shall be sealed against air penetration.
(e) The test sample shall be closed and locked.AS 5218 pdf free download.
