AS 1141.52:2019 pdf free. Methods for sampling and testing aggregates
Each test specimen shall be prepared as follows:
(a) Assemble each set of mould components, tighten securely and lightly oil the interior of the mould. Wipe off all excess oil.
NOTE If difficulty is expected in removing the compacted cubes from the moulds because of adhesion to the sides of the mould or lack of cohesion of the material, a paper lining may be placed in the oiled mould before the material is added. The paper may be left on during drying and testing.
(b) Place in a mould assembly sufficient material from one test portion so that, after compaction and removal of the guide mould, the specimen will not protrude more than 5 mm above the mould on all sides.
(c) Place the mould assembly on the rigid foundation, insert the plunger and compact the portion by 60 blows of the 4.9 kg rammer falling freely from a height of 450 mm. Hold the rammer vertically so that it hits the central portion of the plunger.
(d) Unclamp the assembly, freeing the cube mould and guide mould from the base. Remove the guide mould from the cube mould and separate the cube mould with the parting tool.
If the specimen is damaged in this operation by cracking, obvious distortion, etc., take a fresh test portion and prepare a new specimen at the appropriate moisture content.
NOTE Care should be taken to minimize disturbance during handling of the specimen. Since the specimen will be loaded in uniaxial compression at right angles to the moulding compactive effort, care should be taken that the faces to be loaded remain identifiable during the remainder of the test.
(e) Measure the compacted height of the specimen at three points and check that the mean compacted height of the specimen lies between 71 mm and 76 mm. If the compacted height of the specimen falls outside the limits, reject it and mould another specimen using a fresh test portion.AS 1141.52 pdf free download.
